Look for 2002 on New 23c Washingtons

Four new versions of the green 23¢ Washington definitive that were nominally issued June 7 all bear a “2002” year date below the bottom-left corner of the stamp design.

That will enable collectors to distinguish them from the 23¢ green Washingtons issued last Sept. 20, all of which show the year date “2001.”

Of the four new versions released for the June 30 rate increase, only moisture-activated panes of 100 actually were available on June 7.
